This site has been set up to assist you in your studies at West Plains High School in Mr. Plowick's German Language classes. "German POW's Missouri?"(click the picture!)
Ms. Missy Shelton-Belote, senior producer for governmental affairs at KSMU and Ozarks Public Televison in Springfield, discusses her experiences researching and producing her series of articles documenting German POW's in Missouri during WWII. Ms. Shelton-Belote visited on October 8, 2003, during German-American Heritage Week.Click on her picture to link to her series of articles.
Also visiting during the week was Lt.Col. Robert Edwards (Ret.), who spoke to us about his experiences as a career military officer stationed in Germany for over seven years and as a German instructor at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He is currently a professional translator and will begin teaching German at SMSU-West Plains in January.
Welcome Back!
I hope that you had a safe and enjoyable summer. I'm looking forward to another productive year at WPHS. Over the summer I had the opportunity to attend a four-week German course in Murnau, Bavaria, that you'll hear (and see!) much about.
For you returning students, we'll spend some time refreshing your memory from last year. For my new students in German I, "Herzlich willkommen!" You're going to have a great year learning a new language. You'll be amazed how fast you will learn, and how much you will learn about your native language along the way!
